‘The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window’ is a delight for all the thriller lovers out there. The series is out on Netflix and has garnered a lot of popularity in just a few days. Apart from being a classic psychological thriller, the series also has notes of dark comedy which makes it a complete package in itself. The protagonist of the series, Anna, is seen baking a Chicken Casserole throughout the series. The casserole plays a bigger role in the thriller series than anyone would expect. If you watch closely, the Chicken Casserole actually gives out a clue that leads Anna to the killer. Emma’s life is turned upside down after she saw a murder right through her window. Emma saw Lisa aka Chastity who was Neil’s girlfriend being murdered through her window. As she called the police and reached Neil’s house she was surprised to see that things were as normal as they can be. Anna mistakenly takes out the dish from the oven without the mittens, pauses for a second and drops the casserole on the floor which crashes right into the floor, creating a mess. With this opening scene, we get an idea about Anna’s state of mind. Anna lost her daughter Elizabeth and has been on meds and therapy since then.

Anna prepares another Chicken Casserole on the occasion of the daughter’s birthday and brings it to her grave. She saw Neil and Emma there who were at the cemetery for Lisa’s funeral. She gave the casserole to them. Two episodes later we see Emma smashing the same casserole on Anna’s head in a bid to kill her. Spoiler alert- In order to save herself, Anna picked up a broken piece of the casserole and stabs Emma with it. In a nutshell, it can be interpreted that the nine-year-old Emma was the killer all along who was just hiding in plain sight.
