How to calculate how much concrete blocks are needed? ›

To estimate how many blocks you'll need per row, divide the total length of the wall by the length of the block. To figure out how many rows you'll need, divide the ideal wall height by the height of the block. Make sure to account for the first row being half-buried.

When you're building a wall, a good way to work out roughly how many blocks you need is to multiply your wall height by its length. This will tell you how many m² your wall is. Then, you'll need to multiply that by 10 (remember, that's the number of blocks you'll need per m²).
