Ingredients You Need to Make Green Onion Dip
![Green Onion Dip (3) Green Onion Dip (3)](https://i0.wp.com/pinchandswirl.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/Green-Onion-Dip-Ingredients.jpg)
- Green Onions: Look for fresh green onions (or spring onions) with firm stalks and vibrant color.
- Sour Cream: Opt for full-fat sour cream for the creamiest texture.
- Garlic: Select fresh, plump garlic cloves that are firm to the touch.
- Fresh Parsley: Choose bright green, flat leaf parsley (Italian parsley) without any signs of wilting.
- Fresh Lemon Juice: Use freshly squeezed juice from ripe lemons.
- Fine Sea Salt and Freshly Ground Black Pepper
Recipe Tips
- Chilling Time: For the best flavor, cover and refrigerate the dip for at least an hour before serving to allow the ingredient flavors to meld together.
- Adjusting Seasoning: Taste the dip and adjust the salt and pepper to suit your taste. Keep in mind what you’ll be serving it with when adding salt.
- Serving Options: While potato chips and raw vegetables are classic choices, feel free to explore other dippers like pretzels or pita bread.

Recipe Options
- If you’re looking for a lighter option, substitute the full-fat sour cream with a low-fat version or use Greek yogurt. For a thicker, tangier version use cream cheese or American-style Neufchâtel cheese.
- For those who enjoy a bit of spicy kick, add a dash of hot sauce or a sprinkle of crushed red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper.
- If you don’t like parsley, substitute with fresh chives or dill for a different herbal note.
- For a stronger onion flavor, add onion powder along with the fresh onions.
- For a vegan twist on the recipe, replace the sour cream with a plant-based alternative like coconut or cashew cream.
How to Store
Store any leftover Green Onion Dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It will keep well for up to 3 days. If any separation occurs, just give it a good stir before serving. I don’t recommend freezing this dip, as it may alter the texture.
