High on Life progresses through bounties that always result in a boss fight. The playable character in the game starts as what seems to be a normal teenager, before becoming a bounty hunter to save humans from alien overlords. This plot drives the player to confront each bounty and eventually defeat them.

High on Life was released in December 2022 to mixed reviews, likely due to the polarizing humor used in the game. The game feels fairly linear, but there are a lot of extras and secrets hidden within the game. But no matter how many movies players decide to watch, they will still have to eventually confront the bounties in the game to progress.

Defeating Nipulon in High on Life

Nipulon is the second-to-last bounty of High on Life. There are seven bounties total, including the final boss Garmantuous. To get to Nipulon, the bounty hunter must return to Port Terrene. There, players will have to get gooped up again in order to infiltrate Nipulon’s drug den. Inside, the players are treated to fairly horrifying scenes that the Gatlians will also be clearly disgusted by. The infiltration objective changes when the bounty hunter reaches the end of the tour, and the previously mute and horrified Gatlians in High on Life will instead tell the player to kill them all.

Once the bounty hunter reaches Nipulon’s office in High on Life, they will have to wait for a couple of minutes. Once inside the office, the bounty hunter can confront Nipulon. Nipulon will release a drug before the player can finish him. Now extremely high, the bounty hunter will have to confront themselves and their fears and find Nipulon to kill him.

When the bounty hunter first lands in the drug-induced hallucination, find Gene and exhaust his dialogue, but do not run off into the horizon. Try to stay within the first couple of mirages where the player spawned. Once that conversation ends, head toward the smaller mirages and keep running toward the black hole. Jump into it. After, the bounty hunter will find Nipulon again, and he will spawn illusions of himself. It might be wise to upgrade health in High on Life beforehand, as Nipulon will whittle the bounty hunter's health away while they search for him among the illusions.

To find the real one, look for the one dressed in blue. They will move after being shot, so Sweezy makes a good weapon to get a few shots off and potentially slow the real one down. Kenny is also a solid choice, as Kenny does slightly more damage than Sweezy. While it may not seem obvious, the bounty hunter can move during this sequence besides just spinning in place. This can help avoid the shots coming from the real Nipulon and keep the bounty hunter’s health as high as possible. Continuing to spin and move will also help find the real Nipulon if the player loses track of him.

Eventually, Nipulon will disappear, and the bounty hunter will reappear in a new hallucination. This time it involves Lizzie and a deeper story beat for High on Life. Approach Lizzie and exhaust her dialogue. Again, return to the center of the scenes by continually approaching the middle of the hallucination. Jump back in the hole. Nipulon will give the player a bad achievement to try to dissuade them from finishing him off. This time Nipulon is slightly harder to avoid and has a laser gun. Finding and shooting him remains the same. He is still dressed in blue, and the others will disappear when shot.

In the next hallucination, the bounty hunter will have to recollect all the Gatlians. Creature will be under a claw machine on a table. Sweezy will be on the other side of a dump truck on a table. Gus will be on the rocks in front of what looks like a plow truck. And Kenny will be at the table in a booth at Space Applebee’s. Once all the Gatlians from High on Life have been collected, return to the black hole at the center and jump in. This will trigger a cut scene of all the Gatlians talking and resolving some of the character growth that they have been hinting at for the rest of the game.

After the cut scene, all four Gatlians will be usable to attack the army in front of the bounty hunter. Sprint through them firing quickly. Go too slow, and they will have the chance to deplete the bounty hunter’s health. Once the bounty hunter reaches Nipulon, they will have to get as close as possible and use Knifey to stab him. This will end the boss fight.
