– vegan – gluten free – oil free – refined sugar free – low fat –

Everyone needs a healthy, oil-free potato recipe! This one uses just 2 ingredients, they are soo easy to make and come out super crispy! They pair perfectly with a variety of dishes like salads, burgers, BBQs, and, one of my personal favorites, my copy-cat Wendy’s frosty and fries recipe!

If you’re a fan of meal prepping, these potato wedges can be a great addition. They keep well in the fridge and even taste good cold! The kids will love them as a healthy alternative to regular french fries.

Are potatoes good for weight loss?

Potatoes are an excellent weight loss food. Ounce for ounce, potatoes are one of the most filling and low-calorie foods we can eat. Their high-carb, low-fat profile means we can eat a lot of them and still keep the weight off. The body easily and efficiently utilizes the carbs in starches, so even if you eat them in excess, very little will turn to fat. Unrefined carbs found in potatoes (as well as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, and other starches) aren’t just the purest source of energy, they are loaded with vitamins and minerals. Dr. McDougall calls potatoes “complete foods” because, with the exception of B12, they can meet all of your nutritional needs.

Of course, it all depends on how you cook them. When potatoes are turned into chips and french fries, there is very little of the potato left and instead you’re left with a high-fat, oily food. Luckily, oil-free potato wedges are delicious. I eat them several times a week, usually paired with a large salad.

When I say potatoes are a good weight loss food, I really mean they are a good fat loss food. This is a big difference since weight loss refers to overall weight, including both fat and lean body mass. If you don’t have excess fat, potatoes (and all other “weight loss” foods) will not make you lose weight. They will help you maintain a healthy weight or bring you to a healthy weight from wherever you are.

Oil-Free Potato Wedges – Baked + Crispy

Recipe by Slow Down CompanyCourse: SidesDifficulty: Easy

Ingredients

  • 4 4 Yukon gold potatoes

  • Sea salt

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 425 F.
  • Wash potatoes. Since we will be leaving the skin on, it’s important to wash off any dirt on the potatoes.
  • Cut potatoes into 1/4-1/2 inch wedges. Thinner wedges makes for extra crispiness!
  • Bake! Lay potatoes out in a single layer on a baking sheet with a silicone mat, making sure they do not touch. Sprinkle sea salt over the tops of potatoes. Bake until golden brown and crispy, about 30-35 minutes. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Potato wedges are crispiest on day 1, but can be stored in the fridge for up to a week in an air-tight container.
  • Nutrition label is based on 2 servings and 1/4 tsp salt per serving. Nutrition will vary depending on size and type of potato.
