If you follow me on tumblr, you've probably seen dessert tofu amongst my meals multiple times. The questions I get asked the most are about dessert tofu, what's is like and where to buy it. Well, here are the answers to all of your questions!
Why I Love This Product
They're super affordable at only $1.27 for 2 servings, which is a lot cheaper than most non-dairy yogurts that I've come across. They taste delicious, and they're really versatile. I love having them as a healthy snack topped with fruit or granola, or for dessert with warm fruit and a little bit dark chocolate grated on top. They're amazing in smoothies, and can even be used in baking as a substitute for dairy. I've also eaten them frozen as a healthy alternative to ice cream!

- No preparation! You can eat it straight out of the container, or scoop it into a bowl.
Flavour & Texture
The soy flavour is quite mild and the natural flavorings are not overpowering. If you've ever tried silken tofu (a common ingredient in miso soup) the texture is exactly the same - silky and custard-like.
Nutrition
- 90-110 calories per portion
- 5 grams of protein
- 2.5 grams of fat
- 10% of your RDI of calcium
- no weird ingredients, just water, non-GMO soy beans, natural flavour, calcium sulfate, and natural colouring
- 13-17 grams of sugar (depending on the flavour)
Overall Impression
I love these! My favourite flavour is Almond. Their nutritional values are similar to that of flavoured low-fat dairy yogurts, but it's a lot cheaper (per portion) than most non-dairy yogurts.
How to Serve
There are tons of ways you can serve these. I eat them in any way you would eat yogurt. Topped with granola, nuts, or fruit, added to smoothies, or plain! Check out the Sunrise Soya website for more ideas.
Where To Buy
Sunrise Soya is a Canadian company based in Vancouver, and their products are widely available in Canada, however there are some retailers in the USA that carry their products as well. Here is the Sunrise-Soya store finder for Canada and the US.
I usually buy them at Superstore as they seem to have the best price, they're also available at Safeway but they're more expensive ($1.99 I believe.)

Reviewing the comments thus far, last one in 2020 mentions buying them at WinCo in a few states. But I randomly found these at my local 99 Ranch grocery store (99ranch.com) here in Washington. I didn't know what to make of it and found your website to learn more about it. Thanks for posting!

How long after the expiration date is is good for? I’m eating one that expired 3 days ago but it’s still good.

That's totally your call, but assuming it's been chilled properly and unopened, a few days should be just fine. Just a note, you can throw these in the freezer ans use them in smoothies if they're nearing their best before date.

The coconut and almond flavors are my favorite, my favorite way to eat them is with a spoon right from the container lol
The only place I have ever seen them is at my local Winco here in Springfield, Oregon, but they don't have the maple caramel or the custard. I'm very curious about the custard flavor, because I'm vegan custard isn't something I usually can have so it's exciting finding this out!

I love the almond flavor Tofu dessert. It is so silky. The texture reminds me of flan. Satisfying. I can buy this product at WINCO in Phoenix, Arizona.

Your blog is the first one when looking up sunrise soya dessert tofu. It came up before theirs did.
I was wondering how to eat the coconut dessert tofu I bought and now I know. It's available in WinCo in Oregon, as far as I've seen. : D

First time trying one now. Didn't know it was Canadian (in Ont. myself)!
Caramel is iffy, but I'm also not used to this. I think I'd try it in a smoothie instead of plain.

Aw, that sucks! I'm not sure! My local stores never did carry that one, I'd only bought it in Calgary once 🙁 Looking at the products on their website it looks like they've gotten rid of a couple of them!

Hi Jocelyn! Are you located in Canada? Sunrise Soya is mainly (if not only, I'm not 100% sure) available in Canada. Here's a link to their store finder. I've seen it at Safeway, Superstore, Co-op, Sobeys, and Wal-Mart.

I did a search on 'dessert tofu' and found your site. Nice site, I've go it bookmarked for the recipes going forward.
I love these dessert tofu boxes from Sunrise. They're a nice occasional dessert.
Have you tried the taro-flavoured ones? I'm in Alberta too (Calgary) and I've only seen that flavour in Co-op stores here. Tastes a bit like coconut but it's a trippy purple color.
