SILO Terrace Oyster Bar

My husband and I ate at SILO right after our wedding, so this high-end spot has a special place in my heart. Zagat says SILO is the #1 restaurant for seafood in San Antonio, and I agree with them.

SILO specializes in East Coast oysters, but the oyster bar serves a wide range of oysters for you to try. Enjoy raw oysters on the half shell from Maine, Connecticut, and Washington State to taste some of the best oysters in SA.

Fish City Grill

Fish City Grill is a seafood chain that’s primarily located across Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. But Fish City Grill has some of the best oysters in San Antonio.

Whether you’re looking for an irreverent oyster dish (which would be Fish City Grill’s terrifying invention, Oyster Nachos), or something more traditional, you’ll find it here. Try their chargrilled oysters with lemon pepper butter and parmesan cheese! If you want oysters on the half shell, you’ll get either Gulf oysters or East Coast oysters, depending on what’s available.

Rebelle

Located inside the St. Anthony Hotel, Rebelle is a seafood lover’s paradise. My husband, who’s a seafood fanatic, nearly cried with joy when we ate here for the first time.

The craziest thing about Rebelle isn’t its delectable East Coast oysters, but its seafood towers. You can order the Power Tower to enjoy a smorgasbord of delights that include shrimp, East Coast oysters, tuna tartare, Mahi ceviche, and king crab.

Smashin Crab

Smashin Crab is one of the least pretentious seafood restaurants I’ve ever eaten at, but in a good way. It doesn’t hurt that they serve some of the most affordable oysters in San Antonio, either. You can get a plate of raw oysters on the half shell for $12.

Smashin Crab also serves up a mean plate of chargrilled oysters, complete with garlic butter and parmesan cheese. Smashin Crab only serves Gulf oysters, which they tout as “mild, plump, and smooth.”

Ostra Restaurant

Located inside the Mokara Hotel in downtown San Antonio, Ostra is the exact opposite of Smashin Crab. This high-end seafood restaurant is fancy with a capital F.

If you’re here for dinner, you can order off of Ostra’s oyster bar, which serves chilled raw oysters on the half shell. They serve it with a mignonette and a homemade chipotle co*cktail sauce that’s to die for. Although this place is pretty fancy, you can get 12 oysters for $36, which isn’t too shabby, all things considered.

Be sure to pair your oysters with one of Ostra’s fine wines for an unforgettable experience!

Bourbon Street Seafood Kitchen

Bourbon Street’s Louisiana flair is present in every dish on their menu, and their treatment of the oysters is no exception. While I encourage you to try the fried alligator, too, the Oyster Trio is to die for. With the Trio, you get Bourbon Street Oysters (with spinach, bacon, and cheese), Oysters Edward (with crab, cheese, and beurre blanc), and Oysters Lafayette (baked oysters on the half shell with parmesan cheese).

Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen

Any time the family is in town, we try to make a trip to Pappadeaux’s. Keep in mind that Pappadeaux only serves fried oysters, so if you want oysters on the half shell, go elsewhere. But hot damn, are these fried oysters good! I tasted my first oyster here (in fried form, of course), and it was amazing.

This is a must-try if you’re trying to convince your hesitant friends to try oysters. The way Pappadeaux treats them, they look like delicious popcorn chicken with the salty bite of the ocean.

Little Em’s Oyster Bar

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve driven past Little Em’s and shouted, “Oh man, we’ve got to go there!” Well, we finally made the trip and it was worth our while.

Little Em’s has an adorably light and airy vibe, but the oysters are amazing too, of course. They have a rotating list of East Coast oysters, so every time you go there, there’s something new to try. Sample their dressed oysters, which come with caviar, creme fraiche, and a glass of champagne.

Eddie V’s Prime Seafood

Eddie V’s is one of the fanciest seafood joints in San Antonio. It also doesn’t hurt that they have a huge selection of oysters on their dinner menu.

Swing by to sample their East Coast Oysters, which are served on ice with sauces. If you’re a Gulf Coast Oysters kind of person, Eddie V’s also has them on the menu. And hey, if you ever want to try a little bit of everything, give their Shellfish Tower a try. It comes with Maine lobster, shrimp, oysters, and jumbo lump crab.

Landry’s Seafood House

Landry’s is the perfect destination for all things seafood in downtown San Antonio. You can get six oysters on the half shell for $16, which isn’t bad at all. They also serve Oyster Bar Trash, which gives you a tasting of a little bit of everything. Since Landry’s also has a Louisiana flair, you can enjoy their New Orleans-inspired charbroiled oysters with hot butter and grilled bread. Mmm!

Southerleigh Fine Food and Brewery

Southerleigh’s oyster bar is out of this world. If you’re in the Pearl area, you’ve got to try their East Coast oysters, which rotates on a daily basis so diners get the freshest catch possible. By the way, the Cajun Caviar & Fries is the perfect abomination to accompany raw oysters on the half shell, so treat yourself a little, hm?
