The Broomfield Community Center (BCC), then named the Broomfield Recreation Center, was constructed in 1974.A substantial renovation and addition of the Senior Center was completed in1990.
As the Paul Derda Recreation Center opened inNovember,2003, the Broomfield Recreation Center and the Senior Center are renamed Broomfield Community Center.

On July 11, 2017, Council approved an agreement for consulting services to facilitate the public process and development of features and programming to be included in the new facility design.

Council agrees to move forward with Design Development phase

At the May 29, 2018 Council Study Session, the project team presented the current design of the project which was 96,088 square feet and a total project cost of $47.2 million.
Phase 2 of Construction

The start of the second phase of construction is tentatively scheduled to begin in December, 2018. This phase is the building of the new recreation center and is tentatively scheduled to continue through Spring, 2020.
Site Development Plan Approval

The Site Development Plan (SDP) amendment is anticipated to be brought to the Planning & Zoning Commission on July 23. The SDP and an amendment to the CM/GC agreement with AP to add the construction scope with a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) are anticipated to be brought to Council for approval on August 28, 2018.
Phase 1 of Construction

The start of the first phase of construction began inSeptember, 2018. This phase is the demolition of the existing recreation center and was completed in October, 2018.
Phase 2 of Construction

The start of the second phase of construction began in October, 2018. This phase is the build of the new recreation center. Construction will continue through Spring, 2020 and the new Community Center side is anticipated to open in Summer 2020.
Phase 3 of Construction

The start of the third phase of construction to demo and build the Senior Center began in August 2020 and will continue through fall 2020.
The Broomfield Community Center is OPEN by appointment starting Monday, Oct. 5
