Metroid is a series that often gets praise for its precision, combat, and puzzle-solving, and Dread is no different. Samus' movements are quick, smooth, and effortless, which plays a massive part in optional objectives such as the Shinespark Puzzles. Metroid Dread's exceptionally designed planet of ZDR has much to offer, with almost all of it being worth seeking out.

The Shinespark Puzzles in Metroid Dread require precise movement while often moving at the speed of sound. These puzzles are complex, but the reward for completing each of them is more than worth it, especially if you want to be as prepared as possible before taking on the grueling battle against the game's final boss.

Artaria

There are three total Shinespark Puzzles in the Artaria region of Metroid Dread. Shinespark Puzzles often reward Samus with Missle or Energy Tank upgrades and give upgrades such as additional Power Bombs.

Below is an extensive guide on how to solve every Shinespark Puzzle on Artaria, along with each reward. The images correspond with the text below them. There may also be additional routes to some of these, but these were the most accessible methods we found thus far!

Artaria Shinespark Puzzle 1

On your map, look for the large blue room where you fought the Chozo Soldier. Head to the area to the right of that room. You will see a long pathway with a few enemies milling about. From there, head down the path until you reach a destroyable wall.

From the destroyable wall, use your Speed Booster to run full speed back up the pathway. If done correctly, you will smash through a hidden barrier that leads to a small room of enemies. Defeat the enemies, and then head to the back of the room.

Once there, use your Speed Booster once more to sprint out of the room. There will be an elevated patch of land just outside the room, and charge your Shinespark before jumping onto it. Next, jump onto the platform, then turn into a Morph Ball and launch yourself to the right for your Missle+ Tank!

Artaria Shinespark Puzzle 2

When looking at your map, look for the "Save Station" on the west side of Artaria. Once there, head out the door on the right and then go down until you reach the water. From the water, take the northern exit and follow it until you reach a door leading to a lava room (Varia Suit Required). Now, progress through the lava room until you get to the northwest point of the map, outside the lava room.

Once there, head to the left until you see a Shutter Platform. Use your Phase Shift to get on the other side of the Shutter and then get as close as you can to the short wall directly behind it. From there, use your Speed Booster to run through the Shutter, triggering it to close behind you, and right before you hit the wall in front of you, press down on the analog stick to ready a Shinespark.

Once you ready your Shinespark, head back left and stand just before the Shutter Platform. As soon as the Shutter opens, Phase Shift past it once more and head all the way to the left. From there, use your Shinesspark to launch yourself upward to break the blocks and claim the Energy Tank!

Artaria Shinespark Puzzle 3

The third and final Shinespark Puzzle is located in the center of Artaria, which is the large green area on your map. Once you're in that section of Artaria, take the northeast exit, which is essentially a long narrow hallway.

When in the hallway, head to the wall in the back and shoot it with your Beam Cannon, exposing a small opening. From there, walk to the beginning of the hallway, then use your Speed Booster and Sprint towards the small space you just uncovered.

As soon as you can, ready your Shinespark and then climb into the small space with your Morph Ball. Once you are fit snuggly in the small gap as your Morph Ball, use your stored Shinespark to launch yourself to the left. Hold the input down, and you will soar across the middle portion of the area and through a wall where you will receive a Missile Tank!

Burenia

While there are only three Shinespark Puzzles present in Burenia, it is home to the hardest one. So, please be prepared before attempting it. It can take quite some time before you finally nail it, but with enough attempts, you will surely get there!

Below is a complete guide on how to solve every Shinespark Puzzle on Burenia. The images correspond with the text below them, and there may be different routes to some of these, but we found these to be the most straightforward and easier to pull off.

Burenia Shinespark Puzzle 1

When you pull open your map, look for the large body of water towards the middle-Southend of the map. There will be a Green Teleportal above it, slightly to the right. Once you get there, make your down to the floor of the room.

Head to the left once on the floor, then use your Speed Booster and sprint to the right. As soon as your Shinespark becomes available, store it and then stand in the center of the floor. Use your charged Shinespark to propel yourself upward to grab the Missile Tank!

Burenia Shinespark Puzzle 2

This Shinespark Puzzle may be the hardest one to complete in all of Metroid Dread, but, alas, it is possible. Open your map and look for the Green Teleportal and head to it/teleport to it. Once there, there will be a tiny exit on the bottom right that you can use your Morph Ball Bombs on to get through.

From there, there will be two doors you can open and a long pathway that will lead you to your reward. We recommend exploring both rooms until you reach a dead-end, then follow the steps to complete the Shinespark Puzzle below.

After exploring both rooms, head to the upper-most room and walk towards the end of the walkway. Now, turn around and sprint towards the door with your Speed Booster. Shoot the Power beam door while running, then charge your Shinespark once on the other side of it.

With your charged Shinespark, drop down and shoot open the door below you. Quickly move forward and slide through the small opening, and fall to the ground below you. As you're falling, there will be white blocks below you, and shoot them to clear a pathway for yourself.

You will see a sloped patch of ground to your left. With your Shinespark still charged, and before you hit the ground, use the Shinespark to launch yourself onto the slope, keeping your momentum. If done successfully, you will still be moving full speed to the left and charging up a new Shinespark.

However, be ready to land another perfectly-timed slide to get through a small gap between the cave ceiling and floor. As soon as you're on the other side of the small opening, store another Shinespark. From there, drop off the ledge and start falling towards the ground.

As you're falling, however, you will see another sloped patch of ground to the right. Use your charged Shinespark to launch yourself at it, keeping your momentum once more. As soon as you reach the top of the slope, store a final Shinespark and drop off the right.

From here, you will use your stored Shinespark to launch yourself to the right to go through the blocks impeding your progress. You can finally retrieve the Missile+ Tank! As mentioned above, this is easily one of the most complex Shinespark Puzzles in the game, so don't sweat it if you fail many times. You'll get it eventually!

Burenia Shinespark Puzzle 3

Make your way to the Southeastern part of the map, where you will see a long body of water that branches off to a few other areas via Morph Ball. Once you are there, head to the far right and use your bombs to reveal a secret passage.

From there, continue through the newly revealed area until you reach a dead end. Backtrack to the previous area and make your way towards the middle of the room, killing enemies along the way. Sprint towards the newly discovered location using your Speed Booster and store your Shinespark just before the entrance.

After you store your Shinespark, slide under the opening and then roll to the bottom. When you reach the bottom, release your Shinespark and launch yourself to the right to obtain the Power Bomb Tank!

Cataris

There are three Shinespark Puzzles total on Cataris. While these aren't particularly hard, they can be time-consuming due to a few things each of them requires. However, if you completed the last batch of Shinespark Puzzles, these shouldn't pose any threat.

Below is a complete walkthrough on how to solve every Shinespark Puzzle on Cataris. There are likely alternate routes to some of these Shinespark Puzzles, but we found the ones listed below to be the most straightforward. Furthermore, the images will correspond with the text below them!

Cataris Shinespark Puzzle 1

This Shinespark Puzzle is mildly frustrating, but only because it requires so many steps to complete. Open your map and look for the Purple Teleportal. Once there, drop down and take the exit on the right. Continue east and take the entrance directly in front of you that leads to the glass walkway.

Once inside the glass walkway, you will see a door below the one you just came in from, shoot it through the floor and then head outside, drop down, and enter the new area. From here, work your way to the bottom until you see a Grapple Beam Door, use your Grapple Beam to pull it open, and then backtrack to the Purple Teleportal.

Once you're back at the Purple Teleportal, drop down and shoot the ground directly below it to reveal a new pathway. Now, head back to the floor below the Orange Teleportal and go to the far left. Using your Speed Booster, sprint right and store your Shinespark on top of the breakable white blocks.

Drop down to the second layer of destroyable white blocks below you and dispatch them quickly with either a shot from your Canon or a Screw Attack. Next, continue descending until you reach the lowest part of the floor, and you will see a small gap in the bottom right. Turn into your Morph Ball and use your charged Shinespark to launch yourself to the right.

Now, backtrack to the area you just blew past, then use your Speed Booster to sprint forward. However, just before the first dip, charge your Shinespark, then drop down and align yourself underneath the ceiling to the right. Now, propel yourself upward and grab your Energy Part!

Cataris Shinespark Puzzle 2

When looking at your map, look for the Shuttle that takes you to Dairon and head there. It will be in the top left of your map. Once you're there, get enough space between your and the door on the right, then use your Speed Booster and sprint towards it.

As you're sprinting towards the door, shoot it open and head into the next area. From there, continue running right and time your slide perfectly to destroy the breakable block and to slide through the small gap. As soon as you get done sliding, store your Shinespark.

After storing your Shinespark, jump over the gap on the right and continue east. After that, jump up the platforms and make your way to the wall on the right. Now, once you're there, use your Shinespark at a diagonal, with your analog stick tilted to the upper left. If done right, you will bust through the blocks on the ceiling and grab the Missile Tank!

Cataris Shinespark Puzzle 3

Head to the Orange Teleportal in the upper-left area of Cataris and then take the bottom right exit. Once there, drop down into the long stretch of lava (Gravity Suit required) and head to the far left. From there, use your Speed Booster to run to the right, shooting the blocks in front of you.

After you pass the blocks, there will be a small gap ahead. Here, you can slide underneath it and use your momentum to break through the other set of blocks, or you can store your Shinespark right before the small gap. If you choose to charge a Shinespark, move quickly underneath the opening and then launch yourself to the right to get the Missile Tank!

Dairon

There are a staggering seven Shinespark Puzzles for you to solve on Dairon. Fortunately, the large majority of them are relatively straightforward, with the "harder" ones requiring a few tricky moves that shouldn't be anything significant.

With that said, below is a complete guide on how to solve every Shinespark Puzzle on Dairon. Much like the others, there are potentially other ways of solving the Puzzles, but we found these methods to be the easiest ways to do them. Additionally, all of the images correspond with the text below it to make things easier to follow!

Dairon Shinespark Puzzle 1

When looking at your map, look for the "Save Station" on the far left side, above the Shuttle that leads to Burenia. Now, look right for an area with a vertical Magnet Wall with a red-dotted line along the top. Head there.

Once you're there, stand on the floor in front of the Magnet Wall. From there, use your Speed Booster to sprint to the right, sending you smashing through Shinespark blocks, allowing you to grab the Missile Tank!

Dairon Shinespark Puzzle 2

Head to the E.M.M.I. Zone and go to where you fought the Central Unit. From there, head out of the room and drop down to the level below. Walk all the way to the left, then use your Speed Booster to sprint to the right and through Shinespark blocks.

You can now access Energy Part above you by simply climbing into the small space above you.

Dairon Shinespark Puzzle 3

We gave you a couple of easy ones to drop another complex one on you (sorry). However, this Shinespark Puzzle isn't as complicated as some of the others already listed. Head to the door to the right, starting from the last Shinespark Puzzle (below the Central Unit in the E.M.M.I. Zone). You should be standing just before a door that leads you outside of the E.M.M.I. Zone.

From there, use your Speed Booster and sprint through the E.M.M.I. Zone exit and chain together the following sequences. Jump onto the elevated floor, then use the wall to wall jump onto the platform to the left. After that, continue sprinting up the stairs and then slide through the narrow gap.

Once you do that, all while keeping your momentum, sprint all the way to the left and perform a series of wall jumps until you are above the center pillar. Now, use your Space Jump ability to double jump to the wall on the right, then wall jump once more to the left to obtain the Missile+ Tank!

Dairon Shinespark Puzzle 4

Directly above where the last Shinespark Puzzle was is a long walkway (on your map, it's the long green hallway directly above where you obtained the Power Bomb Tank). Head there and stand at the entrance. Once there, use your Speed Booster to sprint right, storing your Shinespark as soon as it's available.

Once you have stored your Shinespark, head to the right and orientate yourself to the left of the extended opening above you. Launch yourself upward with your Shinespark to crash into the ceiling, clearing every Shinespark block on the way. Now, drop down to the left and grab onto the ledge. Pull yourself into the small enclosure to obtain an Energy Tank!

Dairon Shinespark Puzzle 5

Head to the northwest end of the map, where the Elevator is that takes you to Ghavoran. Now, head to the large blue area to the right and make your way to the long stretch of ice in the main room. Once there, walk to the edge of the floor to the right.

Use your Speed Booster and sprint to the left, wall jump off the wall to start running right, then perform yet another wall jump on the high wall to land on the platform to the left. As soon as you land on the platform, store your Shinespark.

With your Shinespark Stored, utilize Samus' Space Jump ability to jump all the way to the top of the room. Once in front of the Shinespark blocks, land and quickly unleash your Shinespark to break through them to obtain the Energy Part! You can also initiate your Shinespark while in midair, but that proves to be very difficult in this situation due to the series of Space Jumps.

Dairon Shinespark Puzzle 6

This Shinespark Puzzle takes place in the same room as the previous one, the giant ice room beside the Elevator leading to Ghavoran. Once there, head back to the ground floor of the main room and head to the right, stopping just before the drop-off.

From there, use your Speed Booster to sprint left, then wall jump off the wall to make yourself start running right. Next, you're going to wall jump once more on the high wall to land onto a platform on your left. After landing, continue sprinting to the left to break through Shinespark blocks and get into a hidden area.

Now, after you Morph Ball your way down into a much larger room, you will see enemies. Dispatch the enemies and then walk to the far right corner of the room. From there, use your Speed Booster to sprint to the left and slam through the Shinespark blocks to grab your Missle Tank in the top right!

Dairon Shinespark Puzzle 7

To get to this Shinespark Puzzle, head to the Network Station right before the only lava area in Dairon. When you're there, take the right exit and head into the lava room, and make your way to the other door on the other side of the room.

Head through the door, slide underneath the gap in front of you, then climb up through another small gab across from it. Drop Bomb from your Morph Ball as soon as you get out of the tiny tunnel to reveal a hidden area.

Next, shoot the locked door with your Charge Beam and pass through it. Once you are in the next area, head to the bottom floor and head all the way to the left. Here, you want to use your Speed Boost and run to the right to smash through Shinespark blocks to grab a Missile Tank!

Elun

After the monstrous number of Shinespark Puzzles Dairon had, let's dial things back and head to Elun, which only has one. And, even better news, the lonely Shinespark Puzzle on Elun is one of the easiest ones to solve in all of Metroid Dread!

Elun Shinespark Puzzle 1

Head to the bottom right corner of Elun and work your way to the series of bends with a powerful fan near the top. Once you're there, use your Speed Booster to run against the force of the fan until you can store your Shinespark.

After storing your Shinespark, turn around and drop off the ledge. Next, run right and slide through the small gap. From there, you want to run left and slide once more under another small opening. When you land, run to the wall on the left and activate your Shinespark to launch yourself upward to break through blocks and acquire a Missile Tank!

Ferenia

Ferenia is another long-ish one as it has four Shinespark Puzzles for you to solve. Most of these are also pretty tricky, so be prepared for mild frustration and upset before coming here. However, if you managed to do the one on Burenia, these shouldn't be too bad.

We found each method below to be the most straightforward and easiest to pull off consistently, but there may be additional routes out there if you're genuinely in a bind. Ferenia Shinespark Puzzle 1

Start from the Shuttle in the top left of Ferenia that will take you to Ghavoran. From the Shuttle, head right and go through the door ahead of you. Once there, walk to the edge of the floor and then turn around. Shoot the door open and use your Speed Booster to run through it.

Once back on the other side of the door, store your Shinespark the moment you can. After that, jump onto the ledge above you and fire one Wave Beam shot to break the three blocks in front of you. Next, turn into a Morph Ball and roll just before the fragile blocks. Use your Cross Bombs to get across these blocks.

Once on the other side of the fragile blocks, quickly drop another Cross Bomb and immediately unleash your Shinespark upward. If done right, you will launch up through Shinespark blocks and will be able to grab a Missile+ Tank! This Shinespark Puzzle is quite challenging, so don't feel discouraged if you fail to get it the first few times!

Ferenia Shinespark Puzzle 2

Open your map and locate the Elevator that leads you to Dairon on the left-hand side. Not the Elevator on the right. Once in the Elevator room, shoot the bottom left wall to reveal a small crawlspace.

After that, head to the far right wall in the Elevator room and use your Speed Booster to sprint right. Slide through the crawlspace you just uncovered, then jump onto the steep ramp in the next room and sprint up it. Once you are on top of the ramp, store your Shinespark.

From there, jump onto the platform to your right and then immediately on the one to the left. Once on the second platform, use your charged Shinespark to launch yourself at the ramp ahead of you. If done right, you will carry your momentum up the ramp, allowing you to store another Shinespark charge. With your newly stored Shinespark, launch yourself upward through the Shinespark blocks to obtain the Energy Part!

Ferenia Shinespark Puzzle 3

Start from the left Elevator that leads to Dairon, the same room as the previous entry, but instead of traveling from right to left, we will be going from left to right this time. Start at the far left corner of the room and use your Speed Boost to sprint right.

Shoot open the door and continue sprinting right. However, just before you hit the wall, store your Shinespark. Next, quickly wall jump up to the small crawlspace and roll over to the breakable white blocks. Drop a bomb on the blocks and roll slightly out of their way.

After the blocks blow up, roll off the ledge and exit your Morph Ball. As you're falling, activate your Shinespark and launch yourself to the right to smash through the blocks to obtain the Missile+ Tank!

Ferenia Shinespark Puzzle 4

Open your map and look for the Elevator that leads to Hanubia and head there. Once there, look for the Charge Beam Door directly underneath the Grapple Beam Door in the large ice room. Go to the Charge Beam Door and get on the right side of it.

From there, use your Speed Booster to sprint from the right side of the room to the left, shoot open the door, and charge your Shinespark once available. Next, turn into your Morph Ball and launch yourself to the left to smash through the Shinespark Block to reveal a new area.

After that, backtrack and repeat the same process. Except, this time, slide underneath the small crawlspace you just made and then shoot the blocks to drop down a level. There will be a small notch in front of you. Crawl into it with your Morph Ball and use your stored Shinespark to launch yourself to the right to obtain a Missile Tank!

Ghavoran

There are only two Shinespark Puzzles in Ghavoran! And, thankfully, neither of them requires you to prepare yourself mentally before heading in, which is always a good thing.

Furthermore, each image corresponds with the text below it, and each route below is the easiest to do and pull of consistently. If you are truly in a bind, there are more than likely other routes out there for you to try!

Ghavoran Shinespark Puzzle 1

When looking at your map, spot the Shuttle that takes you from Ghavoran to Elun and head there. Once in the Shuttle Room, you will see a Grapple Beam Door to the left. Get a decent distance away from the Grapple Beam Door and pull it open.

After opening the Grapple Beam Door, use your Speed Booster to sprint out of the room. From there, there will be a series of escalating platforms in front of you and hop on them, following them the entire way to the wall. While maintaining your Speed Boost, you will be able to crash through the wall to obtain the Missile Tank!

Ghavoran Shinespark Puzzle 2

From the Save Station on the right-hand side of Ghavoran(between two Shuttles), head left through the Grapple Beam Door. Once in the room, walk to the left and then turn around. Pull the Grapple Beam Door open once more, and use your Speed Booster to sprint through the doors.

Once on the other side of the Grapple Beam Door, store your Shinespark as soon as you can. From there, align yourself in the center of the open space to the right. Launch yourself upward with the Shinespark and crash into the ceiling. As you're falling, hang left and grab onto the ledge and pull yourself in, then Bomb Bounce your way to the top of the narrow path to obtain an Energy Part!

Hanubia

Hanubia only has a single Shinespark Puzzle for you to solve, which is an incredible way to wrap everything up. However, this Puzzle is a tad bit tricky to pull off and may take several attempts, so prepare yourself for this one.

While it's no walk in the park, below is a full guide on how to complete the lone Shinespark Puzzle on Hanubia. Additionally, every image corresponds with the text below it to help make things easier to grasp. If you solved every one of them until now, you should get this one in no time!

Hanubia Shinespark Puzzle 1

Start from the lone Network Station in the middle of Hanubia and take the bottom right exit. From there, walk as far right as you can go, then turn around. Next, use your Speed Booster to sprint left. However, you have to shoot the door above you on your way back to the Network Station mid-sprint.

After shooting the door above you, shoot the one open that leads into the Network Station and sprint inside. Now, store your Sparkjump, then hop onto the platform in the top right and run through the door (the one you opened from outside).

Once outside, hop onto the elevated area to the right and turn into your Morph Ball. Cross Bomb the blocks below you while immediately charging your Sparkjump to launch you downward. If done correctly, you will break the Sparkjump blocks and can retrieve the Power Bomb Tank!
