List of Countries that Support Palestine (2024)

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta -The Palestinian and Israeli conflict that has been going on since October 7, 2023 has not yet ended. Many countries support Palestine, including Indonesia.

This list of countries also continues to demand in various international forums for an immediate ceasefire, considering the increasing number of deaths and injuries.

On May 10, 2024, 15 NATO member countries also provided support for Palestine to become a full member of the UN.

In a vote carried out by the UN General Assembly, 143 UN member states supported Palestine to become a full member. Meanwhile, 9 other countries refused, and 25 countries abstained.

Countries that Support Palestine

1. Indonesia

Indonesia has provided its support for Palestine since 1988 by recognizing Palestinian independence in the Palestine Declaration.

President Joko Widodo as head of state has also expressed his concern over the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. Indonesia, through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, also sent aid amounting to US$500,000 or around Rp8 billion to Palestine.

Not only that, Indonesian people also use various methods to condemn Israel's actions, starting from speaking up on social media to taking to the streets to voice a resolution to this conflict.

2. Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia called for a violent conflict and many casualties if this is resolved quickly.

Through a speech at an emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia, Faisal bin Farhan, stated that Israel had committed flagrant violations against Palestine and Saudi Arabia did not accept actions that endanger Palestine.

3. Brunei Darussalam

Brunei together with Indonesia through the Joint Statement on the Escalation of Violence by Israelis in the Occupied Palestinian Territory emphasized that Brunei condemns the violence committed by Israel.

Apart from that, Brunei provides full support in the realization of an independent Palestinian state.

4. Malaysia

Malaysia, together with Indonesia and Brunei, also support Palestine with the Joint Statement on the Escalation of Violence by Israelis in the Occupied Palestinian Territory. They support Palestine to become a sovereign state and free from violence.

5. Iran

Iran has criticized that it will escalate against Israel if it does not end its aggression against Palestine. Iran also provides resources and training to Hamas.

6. South Africa

South Africa is concerned about the Palestinian people because this incident is similar to the Apartheid incident, namely where citizens of a certain race were forced to move from their country in South Africa.

South Africa has also downgraded its diplomatic relations with Israel in 2017. Through the African National Congress Executive Committee meeting in Boksburg, President Cyril Ramaphosa expressed his support for the Palestinian people and said that South Africa was willing to help with humanitarian assistance.

7. Venezuela

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said that Israel's actions against Palestinians violated "the line of respect for international humanitarian law".

In post X (Twitter), Nicolas Maduro also condemned Israel's actions which he called "indiscriminate attacks on the population".

8. Jordan

Ayman Safadi, Jordan's Minister of Foreign Affairs, said that Israel's actions to block humanitarian aid to Gaza were a "flagrant" violation.

Safadi said that any action taken by Israel that coerces Palestine will make Israel fall into a wider regional conflict.

9. Turkiye

Turkiye has offered to mediate between Israel and Hamas. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan also condemned the targeting of unarmed civilians.

10. Qatar

In a meeting between Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thnai and the Hamas leader, Qatar called for an end to Israel's attacks on Gaza.

Qatar will also support Palestine, which it considers a brother. Qatar also provides assistance to the Gaza region.

11. Egypt

Egypt helped Palestine by opening the Rafah border with Gaza in August 2023.

This assistance enabled ambulances transporting Palestinian victims injured in Israeli attacks to hospitals in Egypt.

12. Bahrain

The Kingdom of Bahrain provides support to Palestine and supports Palestine to build an independent state.

13. China

China firmly opposes Israel's actions. China called for the protection of Palestinian civilians and called for the implementation of a two-state solution.

14. Pakistan

In a tweet from the X account (formerly Twitter), Pakistani Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani said that Pakistan expressed solidarity with Palestine and called for violence by Israel to stop. Pakistan also supported it by flying the Palestinian flag.

15. Lebanon and Syria

These two countries help and support Palestine by launching artillery attacks against Israel as solidarity attacks against the Palestinian people.
