Masala Kuzhi Paniyaram

This is my favourite dish to make, whenever we have some sour idli batter, we will either make uthappam or this paniyaram. It taste so spongy and very tasty..Not only it is easy to make, but it taste so yum. I make few more variations of this paniyaram, will share all of them very soon.

Ingredients for Masala Kuzhi Paniyaram

  • Idli Batter 3 to 4 cups
  • Oil as needed for making paniyaram

For Seasoning:

  • Oil - 1 tbsp
  • Mustard Seeds / Kaduku - 1 tsp
  • Urad Dal / Ulundu Paruppu - 1 tsp
  • Asafoetida / Hing / Kaya Podi - a pinch
  • Curry Leaves a sprig
  • Shallots / Sambar Onion - 12 to 15 chopped finely
  • Green Chilli - 2 chopped finely
  • Ginger - 1 tbsp finely chopped
  • Coconut - ½ cup grated
  • Coriander leaves a handful chopped finely
  • Salt to taste

How to Make Masala Kuzhi Paniyaram

  1. Heat oil in a pan, add in mustard and urad dal. let them splatter.
  2. Add in asafoetida, curry leaves and mix well.
  3. Now add in onions, ginger, green chillies, salt and saute for 2 mins.
  4. Add in coconut and coriander leaves. Toss well.
  5. Then add this to idli batter. Mix well.
  6. Heat a kuzhi paniyaram pan with some oil.
  7. Pour batter in and cook on low flame till it crisp up a little.
  8. Now flip over and cook.
  9. Remove and serve.

Ingredients

  • 3 to 4 cups Idli Batter
  • Oil as needed for making paniyaram
  • For Seasoning:
