You’re not alone. People will go to great lengths to avoid other people, especially during gym time. We’ve compiled over 18 months of transaction data from our Melbourne 24/7 gym vending machinesto give us some insight on when the peak times are at the gym.
You’re perception is true, Monday Nights are the busiest times!
Busiest Gym Times
From our data, it appears that these are the peak times:
- Monday – Thursday: 4pm – 7pm
- Friday: 4pm – 5pm
- Saturday: 10am – 11am
Interestingly, Thursday 6am? Why?
This could just be an anomaly in our data, but it’s interesting none the less.
Least Crowded Gym Times
If you’re training at a 24-7 gym, anything after midnight till about 5am is prime time for absolute piece and quiet.
- Monday – Sunday: 12am – 5am
It appears that night owls and early rises are the ones who can benefit from quiet gym times. For the rest of us, avoiding the peak 4pm-7pm band will ensure you don’t get stuck with the crowds.
Of course, every gym is different and classes and timetables will effect the flow of traffic at your gym.
Oh, and if your gym doesn’t have a Meccamino Gym Vending machine, you’re totally missing out.

This data has been compiled from 18 months of Meccamino gym vending machine transactions throughout 11 gyms located throughout Melbourne, Victoria. The data is based on the number of items purchased from Meccamino gym vending machines and does not reflect actual number of people in the gym, we are assuming that higher transactions means more people. Usually people buy one product from the vending machine at a time.
